The singer-songwriter of Genoese origin Emiliano Deferrari returns to the album form. Monty was recorded in Brussels, where Deferrari has been for some time, with the sole collaboration of Matteo Nahum. The elegant and refined electronic atmosphere created by the two artists, Emiliano's dreamy voice and some melodic solutions, recall some pages of progressive pop rock from the seventies, the lighter ones and those dedicated to the song form. It is not an easy album, because here he experiments with the voice and with electronics, there is a certain underlying repetitiveness, but at the same time you can perceive the real substance that is behind Deferrari's composition. A couple of listens are certainly not enough to appreciate the many nuances hidden behind Monty's songs. Michele Neri
